a taste for
craftsmanship
From the outset, Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre has placed craftsmanship at the heart of his work as an architect and designer. Each project is an opportunity to bring together the talents of French and European craftsmen whose skills, handed down from generation to generation, combine tradition and innovation. Woodworkers, embroiderers, ceramists, upholsterers and metal casters work alongside the designer to bring to life interiors and pieces of furniture that go beyond the decorative object, sensitive creations designed to stand the test of time. The constant dialogue between design, materials and know-how gives rise to a singular aesthetic, where architectural rigor and creative freedom find their balance.
wall decors
Frescoes, colored plaster or gold leaf, wall and ceiling decorations add a sensitive dimension to interior architecture. Handcrafted by skilled painters and gilders, they transform the surface into a veritable landscape, playing with light and depth. Each project is tailor-made, from a discreet patina to a more expressive composition, to give spaces a unique, timeless identity.
stained glass windows
Between tradition and contemporary creation, stained glass and stained glass windows bring a unique, filtered and vibrant light to any space. Each piece combines the mastery of blown, textured or colored glass with the expertise of crimping and graphic composition. Made to measure by master glassmakers, these architectural elements become luminous partitions, capable of transforming an interior through the interplay of transparencies and reflections.
mouldings, woodwork
and ornaments
To create moldings and woodwork, Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre works with houses and craftsmen who perpetuate the gestures inherited from the masters of yesteryear. Their know-how guarantees the precision of volumes and the finesse of details, in the continuity of a centuries-old tradition. At the same time, he researches and archives designs and ornaments from the great decorative currents - from the Renaissance to Art Deco, via the Haussmann era - to feed his projects and extend the memory of these repertoires into contemporary creations.
woodworking,
cabinetmaking and joinery
From furniture to architectural elements, wood plays a central role in Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre's projects. He surrounds himself with journeymen joiners and cabinetmakers, whose love of gesture and attention to detail ensure impeccable craftsmanship. Their know-how enables them to combine precision construction, sculptural qualities and the richness of materials, to give life to pieces and fittings in which the nobility of wood is fully expressed.
combed plasters,
textured coatings
Produced in collaboration with Solène Eloy, the painted plasters are the result of in-depth research into materials and tools. Each gesture inscribed into the surface creates a unique rhythm, playing with light to give walls, doors or volumes a lively, subtle vibration. Resistant and expressive, these plasters combine traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary approach, where texture becomes a veritable architectural language.
upholstery,
furnishings and decoration
Whether it's made-to-measure curtains, the restoration or creation of seats, or wall coverings such as headboards, upholstery plays an essential role in Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre's projects. Created by recognized craftsmen based in the Centre-Val de Loire region and partners of leading fabric manufacturers, this work combines precision, elegance and comfort. Each piece testifies to attention to detail and a mastery that inscribes textile tradition in a resolutely contemporary language.
metal engravings and patinas
Steel, brass or bronze are worked by specialized craftsmen who give them unique hues and textures using engraving and patina techniques. These skills are used to create facade cladding, door embrasures, interior joinery finishes and furniture surfaces. Each intervention is carried out by hand, in a quest for depth and nuance that makes metal a truly decorative material, capable of transforming the atmosphere of a place.
eglomized glass
This ancient technique, which involves applying paints, inks or metallic foils to the back of glass, produces incomparable effects of brilliance and depth. Now reinterpreted by artists such as Solène Eloy, it gives rise to luminous mineral decorations. Eglomerated glass lends itself to a multitude of uses, from joinery cladding and precious wall coverings to exceptional furniture fronts and unique glass roofs and trays. Each creation is a rare piece, combining the transparency of glass with the richness of materials.
Marble and stone
Working with stone requires a detailed knowledge of its origins, properties and uses. Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre relies on a network of exceptional French and Italian marble masons, including several journeymen, to transform these materials into unique elements. From worktops and credenzas to wall cladding, from refined floor calpinage to sculpture, each project is approached with the same concern for precision and elegance. This requirement is backed up by expertise in European quarries and their distributors, enabling us to select the rarest and most appropriate blocks for each project.
creation of customized carpets
With his mastery of materials, techniques and effects, Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre creates original designs designed to fit seamlessly into his customers' interiors. This research relies on collaboration with craftsmen in Andalusia who preserve traditional gestures and work with natural fibers, as well as with fine Parisian houses to develop specific creations combining artisanal excellence and accessibility.
ceramics
Ceramics offer an infinite range of creative possibilities, from furniture to wall coverings and architecture. Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre works with renowned craftsmen in France and Portugal, whose ancestral know-how enables him to multiply textures, effects and finishes. His approach also incorporates technological innovations, such as 3D ceramic printing, to open up new possibilities and dialogue with traditional techniques.
textile creations
haute couture
From the ancestral skills of hand-felting wool to contemporary thermoforming techniques, Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre explores textiles as a veritable breeding ground for innovation. In collaboration with haute couture embroidery workshops, he designs furnishing and decorative pieces that go beyond mere function to join the world of the decorative arts. These creations, nourished by tradition and open to innovation, give birth to singular objects, where material becomes writing.
metal casting
Working with traditional foundries in France, Italy and Portugal, Sébastien Coudert-Maugendre explores the possibilities offered by casting bronze, brass or recycled aluminum. From furniture to accessories such as handles or decorative elements, each creation benefits from the precision craftsmanship that gives metal a sculptural dimension. In an interior, cast iron introduces density, brilliance and a timeless presence, capable of punctuating space with strength and subtlety.
miroiterie
Our mirror work enables us to design entirely bespoke pieces: decorative mirrors, trims incorporating handles or light fittings, refined dividers or frames. Made with renowned French craftsmen, these elements feature high-quality finishes, such as nickel-plated brass, and bring to each project the precision and elegance that mark a bespoke interior.
working with
precious metals
Chasing and repoussé can be used to create exceptional details for furniture and decoration, with the option of using precious metals such as gold or silver. Produced in collaboration with the craftsmen of the Collectif Rhizome, these techniques, inherited from the ornamental tradition, offer rare finishes capable of transforming an object into a singular work of art. These craftsmen also perpetuate the delicate art of restoring antique pieces, guaranteeing the transmission and updating of age-old know-how.
